It is my hope that the world will appreciate a candid view on international development. Most of the literature out there is full of charts and graphs with no real meat to it. One of my goals is to put some meat on those skeletons, because, in a sense we are dealing with peoples lives.
I don’t inted to be completely politically correct all the time either- I’ll leave that to CNN, and I don’t intend to be nonpartisan- I’ll leave that to Fox News
.
A professor of mine once said that all you have to do is read one news article a day and you will have something to talk about. It’s true, but who is that person you are going to talk to? That’s the more important question I hope you all answer for yourselves.
This blog isn’t going to be concerned with how industrial countries developed per se. I will focus on current events, both here and abroad (non-US) and give the best critique of why the system is failing. Then, we can have our conversation. This is a learning process for me too, you see.
Let’s start with: Death Toll from Cholera in Zimbabwe soars to 978, U.N. figures show. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20081215/hl_afp/unzimbabwehealthcholeratoll)
Your homework- read it and throw some things out there?
My homework- read it and start the conversation.
Hope to see you soon…
